MANGO Mango is one of the most popular tropical fruits and considered as one of the finest fruit in the world. Mango, the Philippine national fruit is the third most important fruit crop of the country based on export volume and value next to banana and pineapple. COCONUT The Coconut Tree (Cocos Nucifera L.) is called "The Tree of Life" because of the endless list of products and by-products derived from its various parts. Food, shelter, fuel - name it, the coconut has it. The coconut industry is considered a major dollar earner that provides livelihood to one-third of the country's population. ABACCA Abaca known worldwide as Manila hemp is the natural fiber for the next millennium. It is indigenous to the Philippines whose favorable climatic condition and volcanic soils are suited to its cultivation. The crop is cultivated in almost all parts of the country. POULTRY The broiler-producing industry has been one of the most flourishing in the livestock and poultry sector for the past decades. This was strongly indicated during the last five years, 1995-1999, as the industry's output grew by 5.75 percent, in spite of the financial crisis.

As the three-year program on Knowledge Networking Towards Enterprising Agricultural Communities (K-AgriNet) Program is closing in, one of its major activities was the conduct of “Training on Valuing ICT Innovations in Providing Information and Technology Services”. The training for the Visayas cluster was held at the Visayas State University, Baybay, Leyte, last October 13-17, 2008. The training was designed to enhance the appreciation of program implementers the value or critical role of innovations in continuously improving the provision of R&D/Technology Management and Information and Technology Services. With the provision of ICT equipment and where online systems are in placed at the Farmers’ Information and Technology Service (FITS) center beneficiaries and the regional consortia, there comes a need to document the role of ICT in the transformation of science to technology, and its different benefits to the AFNR sectors. Thus, the training outputs were documented innovative practices from the K-AgriNet program, action/commitment plans of the consortia on valuing ICT innovations. |

From a participant’s impression on Non-Linear Video Production and Product Catalog Designing The training on Non-Linear Video Production and Product Catalog Designing was held at the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension (OVPRE) Audio Visual Room, Visayas State University, Visca, Baybay City, Leyte and was participated by participants coming from WESVARRDEC, VICARP, OPA, and CVCIRRD. The training dated on October 6-10, 2008 lasted for 5 days. The trainers were all so passionate on their tasks that we, as participants, learned so much during the training. On the hands-on training on Audacity, we learned that when using the right combination of effects we created some impressive and dynamic sounds. We did experiment and had our ears be the judge and played around a little when we got our hands-on on our pc. Sometimes, the techniques that defy the experts are those that create the most unexpected and interesting results. Audacity is an interesting and exciting tool! During the training we learned that video editing is both an artistic and technical process in which a collection of video material (footage) is compiled and altered |
