Impacts of Ecotourism

For one reason, the government is intensifying its efforts to promote ecotourism industry development in the country and that Region 7 has been identified as one of those with high potential for ecotourism. CVCIRRD will invest in a number of ecotourism R&D studies.  Two of these will be in the area of standard development and natural resources management and sustainable development.  In addition to these, other critical issues and problems affecting the condition of the region’s watersheds and mangroves will be given attention, also.  Focus though will be on sustainable management, Community Involvement in Mangrove Protection and Development, Mangrove Resource Assessment and impacts of ecotourism.

The above table shows the Consortium’s interest in the conduct of R&D in many and varied areas of interest from climate change, economics, gender and development, from genetic improvement to impact assessment.  The effort is seen to be collectively put forward by the members working together or singly by a member agency which has the required R&D capability.
